This offer includes all the standard parts of a mapping packing, including but not limited to:
- License of a recent aerial image (for an image up to 4km2).
- A consultation with one of our experienced farm mappers to understand the farm.
- Up to 10hrs of overall mapping time (preparation, on site consultation and post-production).
- For onsite consultations, FMS will cover all travel costs up to 200 km travel from mapper’s location. Mappers are located in Melbourne (Vic) and Smithton (Tas).
- The creation, printing and delivery of a magnetic whiteboard up to 1200 x 1500mm, printed on Colorbond.
- The creation and supply of 3 digital Easy Read maps in PDF form.
- By default a standard map, image map, and irrigation.
- Other types are available such as stock water, effluent, and contour, depending on your needs.
If you would like a different package, for example a multi-property package, we can quote that for you no problems – it will still need a Fonterra branded whiteboard to obtain the subsidy (one per supplier).
How do I accept this offer?
Call the Farm Source Service Centre on 1800 266 674, or contact your Area Manager, who will confirm your eligibility and timing.
Am I eligible for this offer?
Fonterra is offering a significant subsidy to their suppliers who are a part of the Farm Environmental Plan, in a scheduled manner over several years. You will need to check with your Area Manager to confirm your eligibility and timing.
What is the expected turnaround time?
Once you have been approved for the package, one of our mapping team members will aim to meet you at your property within 10 working days if you are available. We then aim to send you a digital version for approval 10 working days after that. Following this, your whiteboard will be arranged for delivery within the next 10 days. We aim to have the whole process completed within 30 working days, depending on your availability.
How much will I need to pay upfront?
Nothing. You will not be invoiced until after the mapping work has been completed on site and then given 30 days to pay that amount. To redeem your $1000 dollar subsidy, you will need to submit an application to your Area Manager who will arrange to have it paid through the MilkPay team.
How much of my time is required?
Your time commitment is usually no more than 3-4 hours of undistracted attention from your most knowledgeable farmer in a single session. This will vary depending on the size and complexity of the property.
What are the whiteboard details?
The whiteboard is 1.2m high and between 1 – 1.5m wide. It is made of high-quality long-lasting magnetic Colorbond and has a custom print of your farm. It is designed to be attached to a wall in your dairy or anywhere you want. It has Fonterra branding and a contact table, with other elements available. The size can be upgraded to 1.2 x 1.8m wide for $144 extra. The optimum size will depend on the proportions of your property.
What if I already have a map?
If your current map is of high quality and up to date, then there is no need to accept the Fonterra offer.
If your map is not printed, high quality, fully featured, or needs updating, then it’s worth doing even if only for the custom whiteboard at this price.
If the cost of a new whiteboard and modifications is less than the Fonterra subsidy then it will cost you nothing.
When do extra charges apply?
Additional costs may be incurred in the following circumstances:
- If the aerial image required is greater than 4km2.
- If the property is further than 200 kms from one of the central mapping locations in Victoria or Tasmania.
- If the time required to map the property exceeds 10 hours.
- If there are additional blocks separate to the main dairy farm.
- If any add-ons (such as gate signs, extra PDFs, magnets, and notepads) have been requested.
Why could a larger farm cost more?
A larger farm may take longer to capture its information, and the aerial photos we use are licensed based on the size and resolution of the image. We have quoted and charged for an area that should be suitable for the majority for farms mapped.
When would my map take more than 10hrs to map?
We can only foresee a map taking more than 10 hrs to create in the following (or similar) situations:
- A supplier wishes to have a higher than average level of detail mapped.
- A supplier wishes to include on their map a number of non-standard features.
- A supplier requests changes to their map, post-visit.
- A supplier is unavailable or significantly interrupted during the mapping process, leaving the mapper unproductive for long periods.
What additional services are available?
Farm Mapping Services have developed several other Easy Read map templates that may interest farmers, such as hazard and OH&S maps, electric fences and photomaps. It is much cheaper to add those in while doing a current mapping job.
Farm Mapping Services can help with farm design, such as where fences could be re-placed for equal-sized paddocks, or Pivot or other irrigation equipment placement for optimum coverage. This design work is not included in the mapping package but can be completed before a whiteboard is produced and delivered.
Farm Mapping Services also has GPS equipment for mapping infrastructure that is not visible on an aerial photo or for positioning infrastructures like the centre of a Pivot irrigator or gates and fences.
Farm Mapping Services also has printed outputs and signs, such as paddock signs, laminated larger maps, magnets, and Hazard and OH&S signage that can be printed and delivered.
There is also a companion software platform in development that is due to be released in early 2023.
All these are completely optional and will be clearly explained and quoted before any work is completed and invoiced.
Can I order a 2nd whiteboard or extra maps?
You certainly can; they will just not be included in the Fonterra subsidy. Ask our experienced farm mapper for any extra requests. This will be completely optional and will be clearly explained and quoted before any work is completed and invoiced.
I have another block or farm; can you map this as well?
This offer is single-use per supplier for a single dairy farm. This subsidy does not carry over to other blocks, farms, or enterprises. If you are part of a collective or may count as multiple suppliers, talk to your area manager about specific approval for multiple subsidies.
There is a standard ‘Extra block’ fee of $400, which includes an additional 4 hours of mapping time, another aerial image of up to 4km2 and 1 PDF map of the extra block. We understand an ‘extra block’ to be a piece of land that is disconnected from the main property and requires less than half the time of the main farm to map. For very small extra blocks we may reduce the price at our discretion.
It would be cheaper for you and more efficient for us to complete extra mapping while we are on site. Please advise us before we arrive to ensure we schedule enough time.
Refunds or Revisions
All work will be sent to the farmer for approval before printing whiteboards and any other selected outputs. Once approval is given and whiteboards are printed, this printing cannot be changed, reprinted at our cost, or refunded if changes are requested.
This package allows for around 2 mapping hours of changes before delivery, and any future updates will be done at the standard rates of Farm Mapping Services.
Quality of the whiteboards is warranted in the unlikely event of any quality issues.
Payment details
An invoice for the remaining work will be emailed to you following our on-site visit. A bank transfer is preferred, details of which will be given in the invoice.
What if I already have a map started with you?
If you are getting a Fonterra branded whiteboard as part of the project, then you can still claim the subsidy off whatever your original quote was.
