TRT Pastoral Streamlines Grazing Management with Magnetic Farm Whiteboard

For Cody Whiteman, General Manager at TRT Pastoral, managing grazing rotations, coordinating staff, and directing contractors became challenging without a centralised system.

“In the past, we did everything by memory. We certainly couldn’t do that today – there’s too many mobs, too much area,” Cody explained.

“First thing we do every morning is look at the board and make a plan for the day,” Cody said.

The maps help coordinate over 20 cattle mobs in a rotational grazing system. Using magnets, the team tracks mob locations, grazing schedules, and temporary electric fences.

“It’s all updated on the board. If I’m away, anyone else can pick up where I left off. It keeps everything running smoothly,” Cody added.

The maps also streamline tasks like noting repairs and organising fertiliser applications. Contractors benefit too, receiving clear visual instructions that eliminate confusion.

“We can just send a photo of the map to our fertiliser contractor, and they know exactly where to go without needing further directions,” Cody shared.

The whiteboards even simplify onboarding new staff.

“It’s a big farm and new staff can easily get lost. With the whiteboard map, they can just take a photo and find their own way to get to a mob of cattle,” Cody explained.

With their impact on efficiency and organisation, these maps are now indispensable at TRT Pastoral.
